Occupy till I come!
Luke 19 vs 13: “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. I studied the word occupy and it means to take over, seize, take into possession, possess, Jesus said occupy till I come. As Christians, are we truly occupying? Another scripture that comes to mind is in Genesis 1 vs 28, “And God blessed them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”. Are we truly fulfilling this mandate? If we are not subduing the earth and having dominion over the things that God created us to have dominion over, then we are malfunctioning. Something has gone wrong somewhere; we know the problem is not from God but from us. We are to become masters over our sphere of contact, to “be masters over” something is to have absolute authority and control over it.
God has ultimate rule over the earth, and he exercises his authority with loving care, however, he expects us to take responsibility for the environment and other creatures that share our planet. We must not be careless and wasteful as we fulfill this charge. We are managers of the earth. But are we really managing? We’ve got to look at the big picture here. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, managing the earth for God would mean that you and I focus on our area of gifting or calling or passion, for example, if your passion or calling is in the entertainment industry, as a kingdom citizen, you are to have a vision that will shake that sector, such that you become the God’s representative I that sector and bring God’s kingdom principles to that sector. So basically, you are to grow in such as way that you become so influential and bring God’s Kingdom culture to that sector.
So if you find a culture of evil vices such as corruption, debauchery, you shine the light and express God’s kingdom culture righteousness, integrity, and the right moral values etc. This is what occupying means. Well, Unfortunately, today’s church is not raising up people with this mindset (Kingdom mindset) but raising people who do not have visions and dreams to own businesses, banks, hospitals, hotels, industries etc and engage with the world. Instead, Christians have settled for mediocrity, trapped in the corporate system (Uncle Sam system) where they work for the rich and influential for 20, 30, 40 years and then they retire with an alarm clock and a little compensation. This type of system is equivalent to raising losers; most churches have their members win souls into God kingdom through evangelism, when the people are brought in, they are taught the rudiments of the gospel and the vision of the ministry they came into, only to keep them hostage to the vision of the minister and not God’s ultimate kingdom vision.
We have missed it, friends. The church should be involved in making sure the earth is restored back to God. We must make sure the earth is reclaimed and restored back to God. Every church must correspond with the mission, assignment, and purpose for which God has called it. As believers, we’ve got to rise up and take back our destinies in our own hands. Leave the slave camps and begin to exemplify what the real church should look like, we should be the ones carrying out the mission and mandate of occupying and restoring the earth back to God. Make up your mind that in your generation, you will do it, you will leave the four walls of the church and engage your sphere of contact, that you will draw up a plan and a vision on how you intend to do this and follow it through. God is for you, God is with you and God is on your side.
