Cultivating the Attitude for leadership development!
Myles Munroe said “You were born to be a leader but most people will die as followers because they’ve never tapped into the hidden leader within them. Every follower has a leader within them but our culture and environment and conventional thinking do not allow the leader to emerge. You were born to do something important in the world”. Leaders do not think like followers, they use to be followers until something triggers them and their attitude changes, that’s the spirit of leadership.
The lion is the king of the jungle because of his leadership attitude. the lion looks at an elephant and sees his lunch, the lion acts the way he thinks even though the elephant is larger, taller, stronger, smarter than it. The elephant is also controlled by the way he thinks, he sees a lion and he thinks a predator, his thinking makes him a victim. The difference between a leader and a follower is in his or her attitude. It’s our thinking that makes us see circumstances differently.Attitude is a product of belief system, you cannot have an attitude apart from your belief system. the lion is the king because of what he believes in himself. His belief system controls everything and that’s why he is the king of the jungle.
To develop the leader in you, you’ve got to have a perception of who you are, why you exist, and your sense of significance in life.No matter what situation you are in now, once you can discover this three concepts, you are on your way to living a life of purpose. A perception of who you are, you must erase and separate yourself from other people’s concept of you and have a strong self-concept of yourself. why do you think you exist, you’ve got to understand you were born for a reason, there’s some PURPOSE for your life and you must develop a sense of significance in your life. You are important to the human race, you are important to your world and the universe. you are not just a social security number or a worker in the system. you were born to do something very significant in the world. you cannot carry out the mandate of leadership until you transform your belief system. No one is responsible for your life except you. Change your attitude about who you are, take action and you will find yourself soaring on a different altitude.
